"Haze drifts into central Malaysia, pollution reaches 'unhealthy' level in capital",
"The worst case of smoke-induced haze in Southeast Asia occurred in 1997-98. It blanketed much of the region and was blamed for losses of nearly US$9 billion in lost tourism, health and business costs."

I was at Tiong Bahru for dinner and witness the smoke-induced air lowering the visibilty and it seems that the city were covered by the haze/smoke. It was rather unpleasant.
Nevertheless, we proceed to Chinatown to view the Lanterns and try to get some atomsphere of the festival too.
It was rather fun and we took some pictures too, I also noticed some foreigners buying lanterns too. However ( maybe due to the haze ) the weather was so hot and humid causing me to perspire non-stop, thus I was very uncomfortable that I wanted to just go home to take a nice shower. However, we ended up in a nearby club for a drink and to indulge in air conditioning.
