Hogs Breath @ Chimes

I met someone from my current workplace who is burmese. He was very a nice and friendly guy. I happened to talk more with him in the afternoon after he was sharing to us about the interesting facts about burmese name... Its really interesting, like you can tell which day a person is born based on their name as well as their age but you cannot tell who's the father because they dont have surname. Anyway as I was talking to him in the afternoon, he shared about his goals and I was impressed that he was selfless as he said he cannot only think of himself and just go for his masters, he should support financially his 2 younger sisters's education so that they can have better prospect, so he has to forgo his master course. I told him there will always be opportunity to take up the study again. We also shared about cultures for different countries. However we cant talk too long, I was surprised that he gave me his contact number to stay in contact. He said he enjoyed talking to me and he finds me different from usual Singaporean gals... I replied with a smile maybe its because I lived aboard before. ( of cos on the inside I know I am very different from 'general' gals ;P )


I went for dinner with new colleagues tonight. It was organized by the company for project kick off celebrations. It was @ Hogs Breath, really nice place with great food. I do recommend this place .

If it was years ago or even months ago, I will find it difficult to mingle with new faces. I guess it was also a case of "had to make it" too. Remembering what K told me ( just wear a smile and lady luck will smile @ you ) I just smile and introduce myself to new people. It also helped tremensously that they are from consulting line and are receptive people, thus they were friendly and professional to introduce me to the rest too.

After mingling around ( no I wasnt really doing alot of talking but tried my best to listen actively ), it was time to find a place to sit down for dinner. I noticed a sweet looking and attractive(to me) gal came later during the mingling session and thought she was my ex colleage and was alittle uncomfortable as I dont wish to work with that ex colleague. When I sat down on, moments later i was pleasantly surprised that she sat in front of me. She was friendly and we talked abit. Her name is S I found out she is another person not my ex colleague and that we will be on the same team... :P

The manager was also very friendly and sporting. She came up with playing games at dinner table to get to know people better. Of course those were very 'outrageous' games. However, through the games I noticed there are some similarities between me and S. I was also conscious to keep it professional.

I sms KR that I had dinner plans which I forgotten, so I cannot go to the movie with her. I felt alittle bad because it was me who asked her out for movie in the first place and I actually forgotten about the dinner plans with my new company. I of course apologised to her especially she thought she was meeting me and had to change her plans.
